Unit ID1: Know – Workplace Health and Safety Principles

This foundational unit focuses on the 'why' of health and safety. You will learn about the legal, moral, and financial drivers for safety and how to build a positive safety culture within an organization.

  • Key Topics Covered: Socio-Legal Models; Organizational Structures and Leadership; Health and Safety Culture & Behavioural Change; Hazard Identification & Risk Management; Measuring and Monitoring Performance; Professional Skills; and Supply Chain Management.
Unit ID2: Do – Controlling Workplace Health Issues

This unit provides the practical knowledge to identify, assess, and control a wide range of occupational health and hygiene hazards.

  • Key Topics Covered: Occupational Health Services; Mental Ill-Health & Well-being; Hazardous Substances (Chemical and Biological); Epidemiology and Toxicology; Asbestos; Noise, Vibration, and Radiation; Musculoskeletal Issues; and Welfare at Work.
Unit ID3: Do – Controlling Workplace Safety Issues

This unit covers the key safety engineering principles and practices required to ensure a safe working environment and prevent common workplace accidents.

  • Key Topics Covered: Safe Working Environments; Confined Spaces; Fire and Explosion; Dangerous Substances; Work Equipment and Machinery; Electrical Safety; Lifting Equipment; Construction Safety; and Workplace Transport.

Assessment, Grading & Duration

This qualification is assessed through a series of assignments and case studies designed to test your practical application of knowledge.
